Feverish job hunting has put the blog on the back-burner for a week or so. If you know anyone looking for an energetic, hard-working, sociable, multi-talented innovator with a great track record - send them my way. This week brings in the official start of the hurricane season (check out our Hurricane Guide) - not so excited about that, the Farmer's Market sprouting today (Tuesday), Awendaw Green buzzing on Wednesday, Fridays on the Point and the Annual Sweetgrass Festival on Saturday. There's bound to be something happening Thursday, which has eluded my radar. I'll have to suss it out to fill out the week.
Let's start with hurricane season, which starts tomorrow June 1st. I always eat my least favorite food first. I'll try to post frequent updates, should a storm appear to be headed this way. Don't put off your seasonal prep any longer, supplies get scarce when a storm's imminent.

The Sweetgrass Festival celebrates the rich Gullah Geechee cultural heritage and provides the most extensive showcase of sweetgrass baskets in the Lowcountry area. Unique handmade arts & crafts, paintings, live performances, and documentary films. Gospel songs and praise dance, storytelling and Gullah Geechee skits, basket-making demonstrations and the Adande African Drummers and Dancers. Visitors will be treated to a variety of authentic Gullah cuisine, classic barbecue, fish, chicken and beverages offered for sale by more than 15 Lowcountry restaurants and food vendors.
